Together with Samantha Arnott, Program Manager, they discuss door to needle times, the importance of calling 911 and that during a stroke 1.9 million neurons can be lost per minute and that the importance of getting to the right hospital in the fastest time is critical. Sharene is an ESD therapy assistant and actually came to our home to provide therapy for Christine during her intial recovery after her stroke. Sharene describes her job. Christine has a conversation with Melissa Sztym, the Team Lead for the Stroke-Early Supported Discharge Program with Alberta Health Services at St. Mary's Hospital in Camrose, Alberta Canada. They talk about the services that they offer to Stroke Survivors which includes the ESD program where staff come to the survivors residence to provide therapy rather than having the survivor come into the Hospital. Christine participated in this program and together they describe how it works and the benefits. This is an amazing program, check it out!!
